衛侯以寧俞有保護之功，欲用為上卿。俞讓於孔達。乃以達為上卿，寧俞為亞卿。Duke Cheng of Wey thought that Ning Yu had done the meritorious act of protecting him, so [the Duke] contemplated employing [Ning Yu] as high dignitary. Ning Yu yielded [that honour] to Kong Da. Duke Cheng of Wey then appointed Kong Da as high dignitary and Ning Yu as vice-dignitary.
