Iraq Command
Preserved but no longer current.
Constituted in Sept. 1942, with headquarters at Baghdad, its functions were (a) to stand as a bulwark against a possible German drive through the Caucasus, and (6) to protect and operate the routes by which supplies were sent to Russia. The Command was wound up in 1946.
