Founded by Xenophanes of Elea (about 530 B.C.), who, in opposition to the current Greek system founded on poly- theism and anthropomorphism, taught the unity and unchangeableness of the Divine. Through Parmenides and Zeno in the 5th century the school exercised great influence on Phxto.
